プロダクトデザインは、工業製品や日用品など、暮らしの中で使われる立体物のあるべき姿、あるべき形を探る職業です。

どんな人が、何のために、いつ、どう使うのか。どんな人がどういう素材でどう作り、どう売られ、買われ、捨てられるのか。それは人の暮らしの中でどんな喜びをもたらし、どんな苦しみをやわらげるのか。

立体物は物理的に人を助けることができる一方で、物理的に人を傷つけうるものでもあります。僅かな可能性を取りこぼさないためには、思索と試作の往復と、先入観のない視点が欠かせません。だからこそ、いつもまっさらな気持ちでプロジェクトに向き合い、デザインを模索していけたらと思います。

Deriving the ideal form from the back and forth between speculation and prototyping

Product design is a profession that explores the ideal shape and form of three-dimensional objects used in people's daily lives, such as industrial products and daily necessities.

Who will use it, for what purpose, when, and how? What kind of people, what kind of materials, how it is made, how it is sold, bought, and discarded. What kind of pleasure do they bring to people's lives, and what kind of suffering do they alleviate?

The design of three-dimensional objects can physically help people, but it can also physically hurt them. In order not to miss the slightest possibility, whether good or bad, relentless back and forth between speculation and prototyping, and a perspective without preconceived ideas are essential.
